Last month, Iowa played an outdoor exhibition at its football stadium, and more than 55,000 people came to watch Clark and the Hawkeyes, setting the attendance record for women's college basketball. For reference, that’s more fans than the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets are averaging through four home games this season. That attendance figure also made Iowa vs. Virginia Tech the most-attended regular season women's college basketball game in the state of North Carolina, breaking the record of 12,722 set in 2009 when UNC-Chapel Hill hosted UConn at the Dean Smith Center.

If, like us, you’re into cooking then taking a cooking class should be on your list of things to do. We love this great school called Nicoles Table where you can learn to cook local jerk style. She runs all sorts of classes, from curries to jerk and much more in between. At the remote (and beautiful) Seaforth Beach, the Pig’s Paradise team bring their little piglets to visit you. You’ll have a chance to swim with the pigs and bottle-feed them their milk. The main experience at Lavinscourt Island is feeding and petting the giant tortoises that live there as part of a breeding programme.
Close to the Antigua cruise port, you’ll find various restaurants with jerk chicken and fresh fish on the menu. Specific request (ours is usually an omelette for Cameron) then they are usually happy to help. The cruise port is found in St. John which is the capital city of Antigua.
There are also lots of amazing boat tours that you can take to explore places such as Cades Reef which is one of the main coral reefs in Antigua. We think that the best view in Antigua is from Shirley Heights lookout point overlooking English Harbour. If you’re feeling adventurous then you can hike up from Galleon Beach via the Mermaid Pools. This is a hike that we love to do as a family because the views are incredible. Plus there are so many things to see such as butterflies, hermit crabs, hummingbirds, cacti and much more. Historic Nelson’s Dockyard is a UNESCO World Heritage Site within the Nelson’s Dockyard National Park and is totally worth visiting.
Getting around and exploring Antigua’s St. John Port is easy and convenient. Walking is one of the popular ways to explore; it will give you a chance to admire the local buildings and culture or just read store signs at your leisurely pace. Tourists (passengers and crew) disembarking cruise vessels docked in St John's Harbour are handled at the terminals Redcliffe Quay and Heritage Quay.

Port St Johns (locode CASJF) has a deepwater harbour and capacity to handle the world's largest passenger liners. Located on Antigua Island's northwestern coast, the town has land area approx 10 km2 (4 mi2) and population around 22,000. St John's is also the country's commercial center and principal/main seaport.
Admire the mixture of architecture, old churches, war memorials, a fish market, and notable landmarks either on a guided walking tour or on your own. Walking tours normally last a couple of hours, so you will have plenty of time after to enjoy other activities. I highly recommend this 3-hour city tour that hits the highlight of St John. Since it’s only three hours, it can be combined with another activity during your one day itinerary. There is a large beach bar, beach chairs for rent, and amazing people watching. If you are visiting the island of 365 beaches, you need to spend your day at the beach!

In April 2023, Port Canaveral officials proposed the construction of a new cruise terminal. The US$175 million facility could be built on the Port's southern side, and completed and opened in 2026-Q4. In 2018, two port development projects received funding for maintenance works in the seaport. For the projects were allocated USD 14,76 million (Canaveral Harbor Sand Bypass and jetty upgrades) and USD 1,47 million (Harbor and Locks). In August 2015, commissioners approved USD 81 million port development project for upgrades of terminals 5 and 10, aimed at handling larger-sized vessels (details in the "terminal" section below).

There are also stairs up and sloped walkways if you choose to walk instead of taking the elevator. As with most terminals, the experience when you get off the ship is different than when you board. While the boarding side of the terminal is filled with modern style, the debarkation area is decidedly more utilitarian.

Starting May 12, 2019, the ship operates year-round scheduled 4-5-day "long weekend" Bahamas cruises. Departures are on Thursdays (4-day itinerary to Freeport and Nassau) and on Mondays and Saturdays (5-day itinerary to Amber Cove Dominicana and Grand Turk Island).

Given the new terminal and health protocols, the layout looks to be a bit different than you might be used to. For those that need more help there will still be check-in stations staffed, but the emphasis on the traditional method of check-in seems diminished.

As a deepwater seaport, Port Canaveral has a very high volume of traffic. From a total of 6 million cargo tons moved through the port annually, 2,7+ million tons (3 million short tons) are bulk cargoes. The port features hoppers and conveyors for loading products directly into trucks, as well as bulk cargo container facilities. As homeport, this is a major turnaround port destination (serving roundtrip itineraries) with annual shipping traffic 4,5+ million cruise ship tourists. But perhaps no way of getting to the port is as convenient as an Orlando hotel near the airport with a cruise shuttle. As a way of winning your business, many spots near the airport offer a free shuttle to their hotel after you arrive from your flight. And then after your stay, they can help you with a shuttle ride to Port Canaveral (for a fee).
Review your boarding documents to confirm which specific terminal you should arrive at. With such gorgeous beaches stretching away in every direction, a day by the seaside beckons. Head to Cocoa Beach, just 15 minutes’ drive from Port Canaveral. Here, the classic 1960s pier, which is lined with shops and restaurants, extends 800 feet out into the warm Atlantic, with street entertainers providing a backdrop of music and art. The beach itself is a hotspot for surfers, with lifeguards, umbrellas and beach chairs to rent, and volleyball courts. Another highlight is the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, where you can meet astronauts, marvel at moon rockets, and immerse yourself in space exploration.
